About
The European University Institute (EUI) is an intergovernmental postgraduate and post-doctoral research institute in the social sciences and humanities, based at Fiesole in the hills above Florence, Italy. It was created by a convention signed in Florence on 19 April 1972 by the six founding member states of the European Communities, and admitted its first researchers in 1976.
